Nigeria’s first lady Aisha Buhari has urged the All Progressives Congress(APC) Women and Youths Presidential Campaign Team to rally behind the party’s presidential standard-bearer, Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima. She said APC could not afford to lose the 2023 presidential election.

Mrs Buhari, the leader of the APC women’s campaign team, made the call on Sunday during a strategic meeting with the wife of APC presidential candidate Remi Tinubu and the wives of APC governors. The meeting, held at the State House in Abuja, also had in attendance the wife of the vice-presidential candidate, Nana Shetima.

“APC women have to be united to create a formidable force towards galvanising support to ensure (the) victory of the party at the polls. The APC Tinubu/Shettima Women and Youths Presidential Campaign Team have been constituted to fashion out modalities for the 2023 campaign. I, therefore, solicit your cooperation in driving our party to victory,” said Mrs Buhari.

She added, “Tomorrow, the APC women and youth presidential campaign team will be inaugurated to work with the Presidential Campaign Council to galvanise the support for our dear party. We depend on you to anchor this movement as chief patron of the women and youths presidential campaign team.”

She charged APC women to be determined and resilient in delivering the party to victory in the forthcoming general election.

“We can’t afford to lose but work together as a formidable force to achieve success at the 2023 elections. The APC has chosen its candidates for all political seats. It is now time to reactivate our movement,” said the first lady.

She stressed that “this meeting would renew our bond of understanding and reassure ourselves that we can all work together again in driving our great party to victory come 2023 elections.”

Mrs Buhari also informed the gathering of APC women’s commitment and support during the 2015 electioneering.

“In 2015, Nigerian women mounted a strong electoral movement, engaging women and young people. This formidable force led the party to victory; the establishment of the APC government since 2015 to date is because of the efforts of those women and youths,” she explained.
