Attention: Sir,

CBN

SUBJECT: Petition for the Release of Mr. Endurance Edwin (Charge No: MCO/79c/2019)

I, Comrade Victor Ojei the Lead Activist for Young Nigerian Rights Organization, a concerned citizen of Nigeria, write this petition to bring to your attention the unjust detention of Mr. Endurance Edwin, who has been held in custody since 2019 under Charge No: MCO/79c/2019.

The case is BETWEEN Commissioner OF POLICE AND MR. ENDURANCE EDWIN, and it is currently being held at THE HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE: DELTA STATE OF NIGERIA, IN THE EFFURUN JUDICIAL DIVISION, HOLDEN AT EFFURUN

Mr. Endurance Edwin’s wife, Mrs. Gloria Blossom, has already sworn an AFFIDAVIT IN SUPPORT AND AFFIDAVIT OF URGENCY, stating that her husband is innocent and wrongly accused. She attests to the following facts:

Mr. Endurance Edwin is from Uzere community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Prior to his unlawful detention, he resided at No. 2 Okpofabiri Close, Ogboloma Community, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, with his family.

Mr. Endurance Edwin’s family has a family house in Ugheli, Delta State.

On the 8th of November, 2019, Mr. Edwin attended a burial ceremony at Olomoro in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

On the 9th of November while returning to his family house in Ughelli from the burial ceremony, he was stopped by a group of police officers who thoroughly checked his vehicle particulars and allowed him to proceed.

After a short distance, the same police officers stopped him again and sent him to prison without evidence of any wrongdoing. He is innocent of the charges.

We appeal to your esteemed office to use your authority and take note of this case during your monthly visits to the prison, as prescribed by the Delta State Administration of Criminal Justice Act. We humbly request that you review the circumstances of Mr. Endurance Edwin’s detention and consider his immediate release, given that he has been in remand since 2019

We believe in the fairness and justice system of our country and trust that you will take the necessary steps to rectify this miscarriage of justice. Your intervention in this matter will not only serve the cause of justice but also alleviate the suffering of an innocent man and his family. Due to unavilability of money he does not have money to hire a lawyer to defend him to get justice but we as Human Rights Advocates in our own little capacity are offerring this service to humanity which is the best work of life for free.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter, and we look forward to a positive resolution.

Yours faithfully,

COMRADE VICTOR OJEi
