SOLUDO INSPECTS OKPOKO ROADS, 10.953 KM IGBOUKWU-IKENGA-EKWULOBIA ROAD, SAYS APGA IS THE PARTY TO BEAT

Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has inspected the level of work at the on-going nine roads in Okpoko, Ogbaru local government area.

The nine roads measuring 14.053 kilometres; dual carriage of 2.884 kilometres and Single Carriage of 8.28 kilometers include Obodoukwu-Owerri Road, Ogbuagu-Mgbuka Road, Edeh-School Rd-Awalite-Ojoto-Owerri Road and School Rd-Umuobom-Ojoto.

Others are; Umuobom-AdaziAni Street-Owerri Road, Umunweke Street-Umeojiako Street Road, Awalite Street-Anumudu Mgbuka Amazu Road, Uzi Street-Mission Street Road and Anumudu Street-GMO Road.

 

The Governor also inspected the 10.953-kilometer Igboukwu-Ikenga-Ekwulobia Road, which has a spur to Nanka and Isuofia.

 

The Governor expressed his love for Okpoko, which is why he is determined to revamp the neighborhood and raise the profile of the area from slum to a sought-after destination.

According to the Governor, APGA is the party of the common man and the state has experienced tremendous growth since it took over the reigns of power in Anambra 17 years ago.

 

“We have been flagging-off roads throughout the local government areas, and we are still flagging off more.

 

“When we finish road construction in Okpoko, we will also install solar streetlights. Okpoko must glow and shine.” Governor Soludo reassured

He explained that in order to engage the youth, his government decided to build Youth Recreation and Leisure Centre and General Hospital in Okpoko as well as opportunities to realize their God-given potentials.

 

At the other end, the Governor stressed that Ikéngà is the only community in Aguata without a tarred road, expressing delight that people can now easily travel from Igboukwu through Ikenga and on to Ekwulobia; a road that will help the community’s economy.

 

He urged the people to cast significant number of votes for APGA candidates in the upcoming general election, as way of sustaining development in the State. He also called on people to show up to be counted at the forthcoming National Census Exercise, which would take place after the elections.

The Governor and his entourage were earlier welcomed by the Transition Committee Chairman for Ogbaru, Hon. Paschal Aniegbuna and his Aguata counterpart, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike. They both thanked the Governor for the road projects and applauded him for the contractors engaged for the job.

 

APGA Candidates in the locations visited thronged the venues with their supporters to welcome the Governor.

 

In attendance also were the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, Commissioner for Justice, Chika Ifemeje, Chief of Protocol to the Governor, Hon. Chinedu Nwoye, Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alex Obiogbolu, Managing Director of Anambra Housing Development Corperation, Hon Chike Anyaonu, Traditional Rulers among others.
