The United Kingdom Government has appointed Richard Montgomery as the new British High Commissioner to Nigeria.
This appointment was contained in a statement announced by UK government On Tuesday 7th February, 2023.
It was gathered that, Montgomery will take over from Catriona Laing, the UK’s representative in Nigeria who has serve since November 2018.
According to them, Laing will be assigned to another diplomatic service position, according to the statement.
They will also be in charge of the consulate’s overall direction and operations, which include political relations, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
It was also noted that, Montgomery previously worked as a Counsellor (development) and Head of Office at the Department for International Development (DFID) in Abuja from 2009 to 2013 and also worked in Zambia, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan in executive development roles.
However, he was the most recent the World Bank Group’s UK Executive Director in Washington, with a Ph.D. in social anthropology from Cambridge University, as well as research credentials from GKW Consult Mannheim and Manchester University.
Montgomery is is set to start in his new position in April 2023 and will definitely perform more than expected, no doubt.
