The crisis between the Rivers State Governor, Mr Sim Fabura and majority members of the House of Assembly took a new twist on Monday, December 11, 2023.
This followed the announcement of the defection of 27 out of the 32 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to the immediate past governor of the state, who is presently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom
The defectors led by the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor state constituency 1), announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement of their defection took place during the plenary of the House.
