The National Working Committee (NWC), of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has inaugurated members of the Delta State Executives Committee with a mandate to plan an effective strategy to evict the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Government House.
The inauguration was held on Saturday May 6th 2023, at the party’s Secretariat in Delta Central along Warri-Sapele Road.
Members of the newly inaugurated State Caretaker Committee were picked based on their “broad experience, competence, character and good team spirit”.
The Vice Chairman, South-south zone, Elder Fred Owotorufa, who inaugurated the 12-member SEC, charged the party leaders at the State level to hit the ground running because of the enormous task ahead and the limited time frame for its accomplishment.
He said it was time for work, calling on them to show prove to Deltans that SDP, is the genuine alternative that would make possible all the good things happening in other states that have less federal allocation and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as Delta.
The 12-member Caretaker Committee, is headed by Chief Mrs. Esther Ikule, with the mandate to recognize and streamline the party’s operations and activities in the State in accordance with the party’s constitution and vigorously pursue membership drive especially youths, in all the Wards and Local Governments across the State.
He said: “following its inability to resolve the protracted crisis within the party in the State and to plant the party positively in the consciousness of Deltans and Nigerians.
“Party interest must be supreme. Loyalty to the Party and the Governorship Candidate/Leader must be uppermost. Eschew bitterness at all times.
“Do not work in isolation or at cross-purposes. Avoid undercutting one another. Together, you should strive to unite the party, grow the party, and also, grow with the party.
“It must be at all levels of the Unit, Ward, LGA, and the State. Comb every nook and cranny – the marketplaces, schools, buses, eateries, workplaces, business environments, the church, and mosque”, he added.
The inaugurated members of the Caretaker Committee are Chief Mrs Esther Ikule (State Chairman), Tony Emeronanjo Onyisi (Vice Chairman North), Solomon Pere Daubri (Vice Chairman South), Mike Dugbo (Vice Chairman Central), Enebraye Hanson Kembigha (State Secretary), Oghenekaro Blessing Ighoboja (State Organizing Secretary).
Others are: Clement Oghoje (State Youth Leader), Mrs. Gbanakumo Eseimokumoh (State Woman Speaker), Chief Gabriel Ibede (State Treasurer), Barr. Afeogba Peter Goodyear (State Legal Adviser), Mrs. Timi Edema Elo (State Welfare Secretary) and Matthew Ogisi (State Labour & Civil Society Secretary).
