At the Christmas party organised for the in-patients of Alimosho General Hospital on Monday, the Governor used the opportunity to address the dedicated staff of the hospital and express his expectations for the year 2024.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Director of Nursing Services from the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Dorcas Sonibare, emphasised the importance of having qualified healthcare providers to meet the health needs of the citizens, especially at the crucial period when healthcare workers are seeking employment in other developed climes.

He commended the efforts of Alimosho General Hospital Staff in the outgoing year and acknowledged the challenges they have faced in their quest to meet the health needs of the hospital’s patients.

He said: “I want to use this opportunity to thank you all for believing in our administration and for choosing to remain here even though some healthcare providers are bent on relocating outside the country”.

“We are not unaware of some challenges that if resolved will further enhance your performance and improve healthcare delivery to this hospital’s patients. We have noted them and we will work on them.”

Sanwo-Olu also shared his vision for the hospital to continue to be the best in quality healthcare delivery among its peers, urging the staff to aim higher in 2024.

He identified the need for continuous improvement and innovation in delivering healthcare services to the people of Alimosho and its environs, being the local government area with the highest number of inhabitants among other local government areas in the State and across the country.

The Governor, who expressed confidence in the staff’s abilities to complement his THEMES Plus Agenda, especially the Health and Environment Pillar, encouraged the health workers to embrace new ideas and approaches to enhance patient care

According to him, health workers must work together as a team, despite their departments and areas of specialisation, stressing that the unifying goal of the well-being of the populace must always be at the centre of all their engagements.

Earlier, the Medical Director of Alimosho General Hospital, Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka pledged on behalf of the entire workforce of the hospital to be more focused in the new year and continue to align with the direction of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Dr. Soyinka, represented at the event by the Director of Clinical Services and Training of the Hospital and HOD of the Medicine Department, Dr. (Mrs.) Jane Bakare commended the Governor for always remembering in-patients during every Christmas celebration.

He said that the gesture of the Governor meant a lot to the hospital workers and the in-patients.

“The visit by the representative of the Governor and the smiles on the faces of the patients show that the event was a heartwarming occasion that highlighted the Governor’s commitment to supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the well-being of the people of Alimosho, environs and Lagos State at large”, the Medical Director stated.

As a gesture of appreciation to God and an avenue for bringing joy to the hospital patients, Governor Sanwo-Olu through his representative, Mrs. Sonibare, the representative of the Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Jane Bakare and other top government officials, presented gift items to some in-patients of the hospital as a way of celebrating the Christmas season with them while wishing them quick recuperation.
