The 131-page report which was formally presented by Dr Ezekwesili to Prof Charles Soludo on behalf of the combined transition committee was said to be a distilled report of over 2000 pages of consolidated sub-task team’s output and individual reports of over 200 pages from each of the task teams.

Dr Ezekwesili told the Governor-elect that the entire report contains the most evidence-informed recommendations to help the in-coming administration “hit the ground running from day one”.

According to the Chairperson, the Transition Committee in addition to the team of the incumbent government, over 50 more individuals were co-opted to join the original 81 inaugurated by Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo on January 20, 2022.

She added in total there were over 150 outstanding academics, experts and practitioners who were tasked to lay a strong groundwork for a new momentum in the governance of Anambra State, using evidence-informed choices of policies and priorities to generate, execute and produce strong results and impact from new ideas in the manifesto of the Governor-elect while continuing with proven existing policies and programmes.

Dr Ezekwesili also informed Soludo that the Handover Task Teams within the Committee also undertook joint review of Ministries, Departments and Agencies with the incumbent government to receive, intermediate, discuss, analyze, evaluate, verify document and report on the status of Governance according to the handover notes of March 2014 to March 2022.

She said the Committee also took on the responsibility of helping the Governor-elect select his team for governance adding that the launch of Anambra Talent databank as a talent recruiting tool for decision making has the prospect of permanently changing the manner in which people are recruited into public leadership in Anambra State.

She said further that as a testament to the competence of the in-coming Governor, that more than 85% of the promises contained his manifesto were adjudged reasonable and therefore endorsed by the Transition Committee. According to her, this is notable because more than 140 members of the committee are people with outstanding pedigree of intellectual and professional achievements in diverse fields of society and human endeavours.

Dr Ezekwesili also thanked Governor Willie Obiano and the outgoing administration team led by Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government for the amazing job they have done in supporting the transition and working together seamlessly as a combined transition team. She also expressed her deep appreciation to all the members of the Transition Committee team including the Secretariat Staff for the great job they have done.

In his remarks, Governor-elect, Prof Soludo thanked the Transition Committee for the good job they have done. He extolled the qualities of the Chairperson, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, describing her as an excellent, passion, competent, integrity personified.

He further praised the Committee, saying that to the best of his knowledge, at least since 1999, that this was the first time you have such a powerful collaborative and cooperative arrangement that has delivered.

He further expressed his deep gratitude to the entire members and all the volunteers for making their services available to the state and thanked them immensely for the selfless sacrifices.
