We decided to go further on the unemployment  problem as it affects the youth of Nigeria especially  now that Mr. President has been insisting  that the youth of Nigeria are lazy and recently made a comment that, “Nigerian youths are unemployable”.

This statement becomes a serious challenge to we youths and teenagers of Nigeria,  it questions our integrity as the future leaders of this country,  how can we remedy our name to be employable in this society presently?  How do we make our qualifications live in and through us?  How do we speak our mind to our leaders for them to understand and how do we remedy our integrity and strength so as to catch up with our job desire and become the true leaders of tomorrow.

However,  I will leave these questions to the youth to answer but let’s still take a look at the opinion of some of our youths and teenagers.

In an interview with Rame,  a girl of 16 years old,  from Edo state, an undergraduate of  University of Lagos. This is her opinion….

What is your opinion as a youth or teenager concerning the present unemployment condition in Nigeria.., I feel it should be rectified or we be at risk of an economy that is even tougher than the present

Do you think this unemployment will have any serious impact on the youth as leaders of tomorrow..  Yes it would…It can lead to depression due to the feeling of being unable to provide for oneself and their family.

What is your advise to the government for immediate job creation for youths in Nigeria?….. The government should create jobs and support graduating and undergraduate students by financing some of their businesses

Do you think travelling overseas will solve the unemployment saga in the country?… It wouldn’t solve it for all.

Also Eghosasere Igbinedion, male,  21years old ,  a  student in Edo state shared his opinion on this matter…

What is your opinion as a youth or teenager concerning the present unemployment condition in Nigeria..,  I feel like the government today should be able to provide the youths with good jobs because when youths are unemployed they begin to venture into different things like yahoo yahoo, 419, and rubberys.

Do you think this unemployment will have any serious impact on the youth as leaders of tomorrow?… A youth that has never been employed no job experience no experience of leadership cannot occupy a seat politically to impact the world. I’m not saying it has to be politically but that’s one of the examples.

What is your advise to the government for immediate job creation for youths in Nigeria?…  I feel like they should quickly provide job employment so youths can leave the street and use the ideas they have to creat a better world for the next generation to come

Do you think travelling overseas will solve the unemployment saga in the country?… I mean it will solve the job unemployment to so point but it’s also been selfish because it’s not everyone who can afford to train their children overseas and it’s not everyone that can get an opportunity like that instead off us running away to another country why can’t we fix ours.

Finally,  Precious,  female,  18 years old, who hails from Edo state and an undergraduate also aired up her mind on this….

What is your opinion as a youth or teenager concerning the present unemployment condition in Nigeria..,
Starting with the life of a youth, they ought to be vibrant no matter the situation. Therefore, unemployment in the country is practically not an excuse for failure. The present unemployment is too bad or let me just say too poor in Nigeria, you could imagine a graduate with first class searching for job, this is too bad and this can lead to the down fall of a country, thus a country would become a room for all sort of nuisance. The youth whom are supposed to be used for development are now used as an instrument used to cause advoc.

Do you think this unemployment will have any serious impact on the youth as leaders of tomorrow?…... Unemployment in a country has a negative or positive impact or effect on the youth. Being a youth, the situation you go through would either mill you or mine you. That is, it would either add too your life or take from your life. As a youth, you have been through the heat of unemployment, when you probably become a leader you would know how it feels to be unemployed after schooling. So you would do all your best to make things happen because experience says a lot but for the greedy ones with their poor mentality, they would want to exploit the society not knowing they were placed there to make a change.

What is your advise to the government for immediate job creation for youths in Nigeria?….. Government should create immediate job for the unemployed youth in Nigeria. If I was asked how I would advise the government to create some job opportunities or empowering the youth with some basic tools needed for the development and growth of the country, not only having a white collar job is classified as a job. There are other things a graduate can do with the assistance of government.

Do you think travelling overseas will solve the unemployment saga in the country?…..  As a youth, you traveling overseas is like running away from your shadow. The country you are running to or travelling to is working due to the abilities of the youth. It pains me most times seeing youth selling their future for a penny to an old man, or woman just because of the excuse of unemployment. There by giving them a power hand when they are supposed to be the ones being empowered.
Things can work out in your country if you make it work. Traveling overseas and denying your father’s land is not going to solve your problems of not being employed. Though there is an unemployment saga in Nigeria but you can make it a strategy. Go to nation’s history there are always youths whom make things work, you could make an history worth reading and talking about if you know the problems of the country and have a solution to it, you would make it without going overseas. If there is a need to go overseas to acquire knowledge, I would advise when you are done, you come back home and make things work out. Nigeria youth needs to learn somethings fr overseas though, in order to make our country a better place. We need knowledge from other places to build the collapsed wall of our nation. Think, read again, and make your nation work.
