In recent times, the Nigerian judiciary delivered a significant judgment that left many Nigerians feeling disheartened and questioning the integrity of the democratic process. The emotions are understandable, as the outcome of the Presidential Election Tribunal has far-reaching consequences for our nation’s future. However, it is imperative to channel our frustrations into constructive action and look towards contributing to the progress of our beloved country, particularly for the youth who have been let down time and again by successive administrations.

Understanding Disappointment:
The feelings of disappointment and frustration among Nigerians are valid and reflective of a desire for a more just and transparent electoral process. Democracy thrives on the principle of fair representation and the protection of the people’s voice. When the outcomes of important political events are perceived as unjust, it can shake the faith of citizens in the system. Nevertheless, it is crucial to remember that success in socio-politics can take various paths and perspectives.

Diversity of Strategies:
Success in politics, just like any other field, can be achieved through a multitude of strategies. Integrity, dedication, loyalty, hard work, and sincerity are essential, as mentioned earlier. However, within these principles, there is room for different approaches and strategies. What may seem like a setback today can be a stepping stone for future endeavors.

Respect for Differing Opinions:
One hallmark of a thriving democracy is the respect for differing opinions. In a diverse nation like Nigeria, it’s natural to have varying political ideologies and allegiances. While advocating for your preferred party or candidate, it is essential to maintain a constructive and respectful approach. Encouraging healthy political discourse can contribute to a more robust political atmosphere and foster greater understanding among citizens.

Accepting the Rule of Law:
The recent Presidential Election Tribunal judgment has declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner. It is crucial for all Nigerians to respect and accept the ruling of the court. The judiciary represents the last hope of the common man, and the Rule of Law is enshrined in our constitution. Accepting the court’s decision, even if it goes against our preferences, is essential for the stability of our democracy.

Focusing on Positive Change:
Rather than dwelling on past disappointments, let us focus on how to contribute positively to our nation’s progress. Praying for our leaders, regardless of whether they were our choice, is a noble act. It is essential to wish them wisdom and understanding to lead Nigeria towards positive and prosperous change.

Learning from Mistakes:
Nigeria is a nation of immense potential, blessed with abundant natural resources. To harness this potential fully, we must learn from our mistakes and collectively work towards a brighter future. One area that needs immediate attention is Education._ *The government should consider subsidizing education to make it more accessible and affordable for all, in line with SDG 4 (Education for All).

Taking Inspiration from Delta State:
We can draw inspiration from Delta State, where His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi A. Okowa established the Job Creation Office and backed it up with the Delta State Job Creation Law. This initiative has the potential to curb social aspects of crime by providing opportunities for the youth. Similar welfare systems that have proven successful in Europe, such as in Finland, can be adapted to Nigeria to address the root causes of crime.

Conclusion:

While disappointment in the recent Presidential Election Tribunal judgment is understandable, we must remember that success in socio-politics can take different forms. It is essential to maintain a constructive and respectful approach, accept the Rule of Law, and focus on contributing to positive change in Nigeria. By learning from our mistakes and taking inspiration from successful initiatives, we can work towards a brighter future, especially for our youth who deserve better opportunities and a more hopeful tomorrow. Nigeria will one day be better and great; it is only a matter of time, and our collective efforts will lead us there. Life must go on, and our nation’s progress depends on our commitment to its betterment.
