It was yet another feather added to a well-endowed cap as the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) on Wednesday presented its Annual Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity to the Medical Director, Alimosho General Hospital, Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka in a brief ceremony held at the facility.
Dr. Soyinka, while receiving the award, expressed his appreciation to YAN for the gesture, just as he thanked the management team for their support and commitment to the success of the hospital. He added that without their dedication, diligence and commitment to service delivery, all the achievements and recognition would not have been possible.
He lauded the members of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), saying the award is an encouragement to do more, especially in his administration’s quest for an enhanced medical service delivery to all patients and in every aspect.
The MD also revealed his passion for the growth and success of every youth, being a founder of a reputable Youth Club that has empowered so many youths in various capacities. He thereby pledged his support to the association as they strive to better the lives of the youths in the country.
The Deputy President, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Honourable Ahmed Shounde stated that YAN, founded in the year 1997, is a coalition of young professionals, politically conscious youth and some notable elders of the youth forum which aims to have a positive impact in the society and also contribute in rebuilding the youth, through awareness advocacy and historical research for improved leadership, open governance and innovative development of the young generation and much more.
Ahmed stated that the association is also an advocate of excellent leadership, saying “In our bid to separate the wheat from the chaff, the association recognises and appreciates leaders, who have over time demonstrated excellent and quality leadership in their calling professional careers, using such for the benefit of humanity”.
The Honourable thereby commended the recipient, Dr. Soyinka for his immense contribution to the economic growth and infrastructure development of Nigeria with so much efficiency, proficiency, patriotism and dedication.
Also speaking, the Secretary of YAN, Ambassador Olakunle Olajide said the MD’s formidable efforts had not gone unnoticed over the years, going by his performance in Amuwo Odofin Maternal Child Centre to Alimosho General Hospital.
He maintained that the association is glad to be associated with Dr. Soyinka’s leadership style and hopes for his continual service to humanity at large.
Also present at the brief programme were some members of the Hospital’s Health Management Committee and other representatives of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria among others.
