Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Oluwatoyin Gafaar has reiterated that the “Keep-Fit-Lagos” initiative of the Commission was conceptualised to encourage mass participation of Lagosians in physical activities.
Speaking on the forthcoming second edition of the initiative on Saturday, Gafaar said the pilot edition, which paraded critical stakeholders in sports and people from all walks of life, was held on the 9th of December, 2023 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
While commending the success recorded at the inaugural edition, he stressed that the platform will continue to align with the philosophy mantra of promoting a safer Lagos and engaging the people in productive activities, saying “We must do the right thing and encourage ourselves to live a healthy lifestyle”.
The Director-General disclosed that the second edition of the programme, scheduled to hold on the 13th of January, 2024, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, will be another interesting fitness platform geared towards creating awareness on health education.
According to him, one of the major highlights of the event is ‘Health Talk’ which will be handled by certified medical personnel.
Recall that the “Keep-Fit-Lagos” is an initiative of the Lagos State Sports Commission in collaboration with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Damilare Orimoloye, aimed at contributing positively to the physical and mental health of residents.
