The NAWOJ South South leaders noted that many citizens live in poverty with the high cost of food prices and petroleum products, poor working conditions, poor access to healthcare, education and employment, justice and other services required for a healthy life.

Dwelling on the theme for the World Day of Social Justice 2024, “Global Coalition for Social Justice: Bridging Gaps, Building Alliances”, the Association stressed the need for collaboration in strengthening weakened institutions that are meant to uphold and protect the rights of workers, adding that social justice and development remained key in sustaining peace and security within and among nations

The statement urged the South South governors to redouble efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, especially ensuring everyone had equal access to employment, education, healthcare, social and economic security,

The World Social Justice Day is observed on 20 February to commemorate and encourage efforts to combat unemployment, social exclusion, and poverty.
