Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has appealed to the residents of Olodo to remain patient as the government works towards bringing an end to their pain and distress. Makinde assured the residents through his bi-weekly newsletter said that the government is in constant communication with the contractor in charge of the project and is committed to ensuring timely completion.
However, he emphasized that the government will not compromise on safety and compliance requirements, as they aim to deliver a durable project. The bridge’s design has already been changed to a two-span bridge, and Makinde urged the residents to be patient, assuring them that joy will come in the morning.
Also in Governor Makinde’s newsletter, he mentioned that the Oyo State government has extended its Omituntun mass transit service to intracity routes within the five geopolitical zones that were not previously covered. The government expressed satisfaction with the positive feedback received regarding the service and announced plans to expand it further as resources permit.
Furthermore, the distribution of the Food Relief Package as part of the SAfER programme in Oyo State has commenced. Makinde assured residents that their feedback regarding the packaging will be taken into consideration, particularly concerns about the partisan look due to the presence of the PDP logo on the bags. He stated that new packaging will be used once the current bags are exhausted. Makinde also urged residents to reach out if they notice any discrepancies in the distribution, promising that their feedback will be used to improve the delivery of the programme.
Additionally, stakeholders in Oyo State have been invited to participate in meetings preceding the preparation and presentation of the 2024 Budget for Economic Recovery. Makinde urged stakeholders to voice their opinions and provide valuable feedback on projects they would like to see included in the budget. This feedback will help the government invest in targeted and impactful initiatives for the benefit of the people.
The completion of various projects under the Omituntun 2.0 initiative was also highlighted. The 34.85 km Oyo-Iseyin Road will be commissioned, and the LAUTECH Iseyin Campus, housing the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources, will be inaugurated. Makinde expressed gratitude to everyone involved in ensuring the successful completion of these projects.
