Following months of dedicated retrofitting and remodelling, the Secretariat now offers a dignified working environment for nearly 1,000 personnel. In the coming days, civil servants from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) will move into their new offices, furthering our mission to enhance working conditions across the state.

In his remarks he said, “Special thanks to the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije, for his innovative and cost-effective approach to executing the project through direct labour. This strategy has enabled the government to leverage the expertise of the state civil service’s technical cadre, including civil engineers, architects, surveyors, and other professionals.

“We also commissioned the reconstructed 1.3km Dozie Way at Ndume Ibeku. The road’s pavement had completely deteriorated, and the drainage systems were in deplorable condition. The gains of the reconstruction are already evident: property values are rising, and businesses are thriving. As work would subsequently progress towards Lodu, Ahiaeke, and Umuafai, traffic congestion along the Ikot-Ekpene federal road will decrease.

“I wish to also extend my appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Otumchere Oti, and his team for delivering this project through direct labour and ensuring excellent value.”
