Former Delta Commissioner, Kenneth Okpara Joins Governorship Race

Ahead of the 2023 elections, a former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning in Delta State, Kenneth Okpara, has joined the 2023 governorship race.

Okpara announced his decision in a statement in Asaba, on Wednesday. He promised to transform the state for the better if elected.

He said, “I will ensure security, health and collaborative human development; economic prosperity, job creation, educational advancement and youth empowerment; new transformative and robust agricultural drive and resource-based industrialisation; sustained infrastructural and socio-economic development; exemplary and accountable leadership.

“Delta deserves a workable socio-economic, political development and wealth creation agenda that will build on the achievements of the past and present administration.

“I have a track record of performance. as commissioner for economic planning, within the first 100 days in office, we got the 2012 state budget prepared, submitted to the Delta State House of Assembly and approved by the DTHA before 2011 year-end. This was the first in about 20 years’ history of Delta State.”
