It was double celebration for members of various special homes and indegenes of Abuloma community in Port Harcourt as they were gifted with various food stuff at the peak of the Easter Celebrations.

The staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Port Harcourt branch had donated walking aids and food stuff to various special homes in Port Harcourt.

Seven Special grinding machines were also donated to indigenes of Abuloma Community market to boost their economy and develop their community.

Branch Controller of the CBN Port Harcourt, Kelechi Onuoha, flanked with other staff, while handing over the items to the beneficiaries said the gesture is as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to the society, and an annual tradition of the staff of CBN to always reach out to the less privileged in their host communities.

He said the project was made possible by voluntary donations from staff of the branch.

“we collectively tax ourselves and contribute and get these things. This is one of the places we are giving items to. We do this annually after putting together what we contribute over the year,” Onuoha said.

We are giving wheel chairs to aid movement of those physically challenged, we gave out grinding machines to empower and help boost their businesses. We feel we should empower those that have the skills to use the machines”, John said.

On their part, the women leader of Abuloma Women Forum Erebi Paul-Aminadokiari expressed joy that the women beneficiaries will now be able to assist their husbands in the welfare of the home.

She said the gifts to the women came right on time, while commending the staff of the CBN Port Harcourt for the benevolence of the community.

While the President and manager of the Port Harcourt Cheshire Home, Jeremiah Victor said members of the home are delighted to be remembered by the CBN staff especially at the Easter period.
