Dear Commissioner of Police,

I am writing to bring to your urgent attention a grave incident of kidnapping that occurred in Asaba, Delta State, on the night of September 9th, 2023. The victim of this harrowing crime is Mr. James Arowolo, a 35-year-old resident of ICE Road, off Saint Bridges Road, Asaba, Delta State.

On the aforementioned date, at approximately 8:30 pm, Mr. James Arowolo stepped out to purchase food in his vicinity. He had momentarily parked his vehicle while waiting for a roadside food vendor to serve akara when he was confronted by five armed men in a Camry car. These assailants ordered everyone in the vicinity to lie on the ground.

What makes this incident even more distressing is that Mr. Arowolo was in the company of two of his neighbors when these armed men approached him and attempted to force him into their vehicle. He bravely resisted and inquired about their identities, at which point they fired several gunshots into the air and even wounded one of his friends who accompanied him. Subsequently, they abducted Mr. Arowolo, leaving the scene in an unknown direction.

The abductors later contacted Mr. Arowolo and instructed him to call his family, demanding a ransom of 30 million naira for his release. His friend, Mr. Ogunbode Abiodun, was contacted and informed that they would accept an initial payment of four thousand naira, followed by an additional sum of six hundred thousand naira, which was ultimately paid before Mr. Arowolo was released on September 10th, 2023, around 2:00 am.

Regrettably, during his ordeal, Mr. Arowolo sustained severe injuries, including a gunshot wound to his right leg and multiple head injuries inflicted with the butt of a gun. As a result, he is currently receiving medical treatment at the Complex of FMC Asaba.

The perpetrators also seized Mr. Arowolo’s valuable gold necklace chain, valued at seven hundred thousand naira, as well as three mobile phones, specifically an iPhone 6x, Samsung Note, and Nokia C300. We believe that prompt and thorough investigation into this matter is crucial, not only to bring these criminals to justice but also to prevent further acts of kidnapping in our community.

For your reference, we have attached photographic evidence of Mr. Arowolo’s injuries and medical records. Additionally, the bank account used to collect the ransom money is registered under the name Amarachi Cynthia Obialor at Pampay Bank, with the account number 8102651390.

For any further inquiries, you may contact Mr. Ogunbode Abiodun at 08160497464.

We earnestly implore your immediate intervention in this matter to ensure the safety and security of our community members. We trust in the diligence and commitment of the Delta State Police Command to thoroughly investigate and prosecute those responsible for this heinous crime.

Thank you for your attention and prompt action in addressing this urgent matter.

Note: They also kidnapped a man between Dwell Pet Filling Station, Ibusa Road and DLA ROAD, he actually went out to buy drugs for his kids, he ended up paying almost 3 million naira.

Sincerely,
