2025 African Cup: CAF Officials To Inspect Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Recently, the Confederation of African Football, (CAF) officials are expected to be in Asaba, the capital city of Delta State, on Sunday, 2nd April, 2023 to inspect facilities for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

 

According to Chairman, Delta State Football Association, Chief Ken Nwamuocha in his remark on the inspection tour said, ”Nigeria and Benin Republic have put up a joint bid to co-host Africa’s flagship soccer event and the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, is one of the facilities earmarked by NFF to show to Caf, as the stadium was used last year to host the entire nation during the sports festival meaning the facility has been updated to meet any international standard in terms of hosting any sporting competition.”

“As we speak, the team from CAF are already in Lagos and will be in Asaba tomorrow morning which after they will be heading to Benin City for same inspection purposes”

 

However, the CAF team is also expected to inspect stadia, training facilities, hotels and other important facilities, to ensure a successful competition occurs.

 

It was gathered that, Guinea were originally scheduled to host the competition but were stripped of the right due to inadequacy and speed of progress in preparations.

 

Though Nigeria co-hosted the AFCON with Ghana in the year 2000.
