30th Anniversary: Osun State Set To Honour Former Governors, Adeboye, Others

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has been listed alongside 27 others for honours as Osun State marks the 30th anniversary of its creation.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Charles Akinola, unveiled the honourees while addressing journalists at the Government Secretariat, Abere, on Wednesday.

Others listed alongside Adeboye under the Osun lifetime achievement category are a former governor of the state, Chief Bisi Akande; President, Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur’rasheed Hadiyatulla; and former Chief of Army Staff, Gen Alani Akinrinade.

Akinola said, “Others in the lifetime achievement category are: Asiwaju Hammed Omidiran, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu, Prince Tunde Ponle, Prof Olu Aina, Chief Akinwande Akinola, Mrs Joanah Olu Maduka, and Dr Benjamin Adigun.

“The state, under the legacy award category, will also recognise Dr Folorunsho Alakija (Chancellor, Osun State University and dynamic philanthropist); and Madam Susan Wenger (a culture and tourism icon). The Osun Merit Award honourees include Emeritus Prof Ademola Oyejide, Chief Nike Okundaye, Prof Oye Gureje, Prof Isaac Adewole and Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN.

“The Osun Distinguished Citizens Award honourees include Pastor Matthew Asimolowo, Alagba Yemi Elebuibon, Brigadier General Leo Segun Ajiborisha (retd.), Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN; Asiwaju Khamis Badmus, Prince Lawal Obelawo, Chief Moses Aboaba, Mr Adewale Adeyemo, Mr Kola Adeniji and Mr Mike Awoyinfa.”
