ZIK GBEMRE SPEAKS ON NIGERIA’S DIRTY POLITICS: ATIKU HAS NO MORAL JUSTIFICATION TO JUDGE OTHERS  

I am highly disappointed in Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his utterances when answering questions at his press conference on 5th October, 2023 in Abuja.

What audacity? What reckless administration that willingly undermine election process? What democrat is Atiku with that statement? Is he the owner of Nigeria to have got the gut for himself and Obasanjo to allocate victory to PDP in their era?

Does Nigeria belong to Obasanjo and Atiku? Is someone believing his ‘cock and bull’ alleged victory?

Atiku was quoted as saying, “… in 2003, PDP took over all the South Western States, with the exception of Lagos.

“I stood between Obasanjo and himself (Tinubu), I said no, you (Obasanjo) can’t take over Lagos, leave it, and he (Obasanjo) left it. This is how they played their politics since 2003. Not that they democratically won States, THEY TOOK OVER STATES.”

The failure of Democracy didn’t start today. It started in 1999 under Olusegun Obasanjo’s PDP led administration. Atiku has said it again in his interview with journalists on 5th October 2023, how he persuaded Obasanjo to allow Tinubu have Lagos state when PDP took over the entire South West states and that he pleaded with Obasanjo to allow Tinubu’s party to have Lagos state in 2003.

What this means is that PDP allocated states to be governed to the PDP and not by winning genuinely. It means the entire South West states in 2003 were won by opposition party but they took them with force to PDP.

All of this dirty politics of Obasanjo/Atiku has caused a lot of damages to polity in Nigeria. It means elections were not won but by writing results for INEC to deliver to party of their choice. Obasanjo and Atiku have no right to complain about failure of Democracy which they started dishonestly and no one placed guns on them to declare PDP winners of those states they wanted to win then.

Atiku should stop complaining in my opinion. The politics of ‘I must win at all cost’ was started by Obasanjo/Atiku, president and: vice president respectively.

Atiku can’t be a messiah of any kind. Till date Atiku is unable to challenge Obasanjo for daring to call him a thief of which Obasanjo published in his book for every one to see. Surprisingly Atiku has become a ‘born again democrat’.

I am not a member of PDP, APC, Labour Party and I am not speaking for Tinubu. Atiku should keep silent when others are talking of democracy and integrity. He shouldn’t be the one to talk. He should keep his mouth shut when others are talking of integrity and being a democrat.
