ZIK GBEMRE LAMENTS ON RATE OF INSECURITY: CAUTIONS CDS MUSA TO STOP INDICTING GOD FOR SELF INFLICTED FAILURES

So, in it’s deliberate failure to tame the growing terrorism and banditry even with bloated annual funding, Nigeria’s military has become so shameless and defeatist to the extent that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen Christopher Musa, sits in his comfort zone to declare that the nation’s Armed Forces has become so hopeless that they publicly beg God’s help as the last hope to overcome their self induced weaknesses against insurgents.

It is the height of charade for Gen Musa to, whether inadvertently or deliberately, tend to blame God for the nation’s military failure to end Boko Haram, IPOB, Unknown Gunmen, Bandits, Herdsmen, Kidnappers, name all the shades of terrorism.

Yes, blaming God, that is what the Defense Chief did. By abandoning his gun and playing the role of Imam and Pastor publicly, praying to God to make the military overcome the security challenges, the General meant the security agencies have not been enjoying God’s help. Perhaps he was inadvertently saying God has rather been on the side of armed gangs terrorizing the nation under various guises.

GOD OMNIPOTENT and all knowing has been too helpful to the Nigerian Government, including her Armed Forces. How much more help does Gen Musa want from God? He blessed the nation with vast landmass, endowed it with abundant natural resources that are the envy of other nations. Chiefly among the natural resources are oil, condensate and gas, on land and water.

God then blessed the nation with vibrant and versatile human capital in diverse fields that are excelling in all corners of the world. Out of extreme greed among the leaders and the led, we lose the conscience and consciousness to prudently harness and maximise the blend of our abundant natural and human resources.

Take our oil and gas for focus. Because of our greed, we fail to develop our home grown technology to refine a raw material we have an enviable comparative advantage globally. Gen. Musa, is it for lack of God’s help that Nigeria ships her crude oil to non producing nations cheaply under a weak Naira and receives it back as imported fuel.

Is it God who has already blessed Nigeria that is responsible for why we have killed the home refineries and must now depend on importation of fuel? Is it God that made Gen Mohammadu Buhari commission a Dangote Refinery that was not ready for production?

Oil refining technology has been on for decades. Nigeria in her failures doesn’t even need to invent a new one. All she needs is buy and install, or procure parts to upgrade the muribond ones. That we can’t do and we keep praying and blaming God to help.

The digression was to give a graphical justification to prove Gen Musa in blackmailing God by taking over the job of Imams and Pastors. Same self inflicted failure pictured in the sick Nigeria’s oil and gas industry applies to the military.

Our military’s failure to tame terrorism is not for God’s refusal to help. God gave us enormous oil money to live a good life including having enough to stuff the military armoury. God has given us agile, resilient and brilliant men and women to man our armed forces.

While Gen Musa is insinuating God’s failure to help, funds meant to purchase arms to fight insecurity are being filtered into private vaults.

Under Gen Musa’s Command, Nigerian Army Special Court-martial on October 10, 2023 sentenced a former Group Managing Director, Nigerian Army Properties Limited, Major Gen Umar Mohammed, to seven years imprisonment for stealing $2,178,900 and N1.65 billion belonging to the Nigerian Army.

An individual stealing that much from the Army and he (CDS) insinuates that God hasn’t been helping. That stealing is not an isolated case. It just happened to be the day for that convicted General. The structural sleaze killing the nation is as much profound everywhere in the nation’s military.

Inside the fight against terrorism, funds meant for welfare of military officers and men in trenches on the frontline are being pilfered. Food, arms supplies being under supplied, making the soldiers vulnerable to fatal attacks. Spurious contracts and being fabricated to steal the funds.

Military personnel trained at huge cost to protect the nation against external aggressors are moved in droves to become army of occupation in the North East and South East.

CDS Musa should do his work. He should leave God out of man’s failures. God doesn’t want war among nations, tribes and communities. God doesn’t want killing of people and bloodshed. God doesn’t want us to be wicked. But faced with terrorism, the Almighty has given Nigeria enough help to rescue the nation and her people from the terrorist gangs.

Africa and Nigeria problems are man made. God didn’t ask our leaders not to be accountable. Only a defeatist military would say the CDS kind of prayer aloud. The video trending on social media of a supposed Zamfara football club going for a match in a neighbourhood with every team member carrying AK 47 riffle is testimony of how bad insecurity is in Nigeria.

And for the military chief to also cry out his helplessness is evident of how Buhari’s led administration has aggravated unrestrained insecurity.

Everytime we read/hear that soldiers and police are being killed as if there are no security operatives in the country, it speaks to the shame of a nation blessed with milk and honey, yet living in pity.

Everytime we hear of ritualists, kidnappers, unknown gunmen, armed robbers attacking victims without a trace of them. The military has made it clear that there is insecurity. It is time to allow every Nigerian resort to self help as the military has given up on its duty. But how much can a predominantly hungry and vulnerable population save selves from unrelenting gunmen and terrorists?

The prayer of the CDS is evidence that insecurity has overwhelmed the Nigerian military. But God is not to be blamed for failing to help. CDS Musa, leave God out of it.
