ZIK GBEMRE LAMENTS ON OSUBI AIRSTRIP ENCROACHMENT: A CHALLENGE BEFORE GOV OBOREVWORI

The Osubi Airstrip, Delta state is being encroached by land grabbers at an alarming rate.

Governor Sherriff Oborevwori who hails from Osubi Town is pretending not to see the encroachment, whereas hardly any land can be sold without his knowledge in Osubi Town.

The first airport in Nigeria was built in 1936 in Kano and no encroachment till date on it. Lagos Airport, now called Murtala Mohammed Airport has been there for over 40 years but till date no encroachment on it even with the urbanisation in the entire Lagos state spreading fast to join Ogun state.

The encroachment on the Osubi Airport is worrisome. I urge Governor Sheriff to partner with the Federal Airport Authority in expanding the Osubi’s runway/tarmac to accommodate bigger aircrafts and stop the land encroachment.
