Governor Ifeanyi Okowa arguably has earned the status of the most wicked and heartless governor, Delta state has ever had since creation, based on his depth of greed, clannishness, insensitivity to the common good, preference for mediocre leadership and vaulting ambition.
Driving through the popular Udu Bridge, a disaster waiting to happen, is one of the clear testimonies to define how heartless Okowa can be. Against public appeal for the governor’s intervention, the busy Udu bridge, in gradual collapse, continues to deteriorate in potholes, broken side rails fallen off.
With the failed integrity and the heavy vehicular traffic weighing on it daily, no one knows exactly when, but everyone using the bridge can attest to it that it will collapse any moment from now. When will Okowa ask any of his Delta contractors of shoddy projects to provide cover up palliatives.
What is the offence of the Udu people? Are they no longer part of Delta state? Are Udu people living in Udu LGA cut off from Delta state? Is it not shameful that prominent Udu chiefs/leaders still sing praises of a failed PDP government of Okowa?
What justification does any Udu indigene has to be a member of a failed PDP administration of the heartless and cruel governor of Delta. Has much stomach infrastructures is being given to Udu chiefs and leaders that they no longer see Okowa as wicked and heartless?
The excuse in the past was that Udu people didn’t vote Okowa but this narrative was changed in the previous governorship election when Udu LGA people voted massively for Okowa and PDP. Even if they didn’t vote for Okowa, does that give Okowa the audacity to neglect Udu people?
Is this the kind of person aspiring to be vice president which I know will not come true? All this pretense of carrying Bible and mocking God with fake thanks giving will not work for him. Shame on Okowa. Shame on Udu chiefs and leaders running after Okowa for bread and butter.
Even with the reckless borrowing, mortgaging future of the state, Okowa would rather deliver shoddy projects that can’t last test of time and not nearly justify the bloated contracts sum. This is the same governor whose counterpart in Rivers state, Nyesom Wike is doing wonders without borrowing the state blind.
Wike admitted receiving unpaid derivation funds by previous federal administrations that were paid by President Mohammadu Buhari which he is cleverly deploying into delivery of flyovers, law school, medical infrastructure and more.
According to Wike, monies were paid to Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom. The question to ask Okowa who is the Loan Master, having graduated from road master, is what did he do with the derivation money paid to Delta? Wike has used the money paid to Rivers to build infrastructure and what and where did Okowa use the share of Delta that has the highest derivation money from the Federation Account?
If wike has evidence to prove that he used the money paid to Rivers it then means Okowa is a state thief. The money is not owned by Okowa but owned by Delta state from oil, condensate and gas from the oil producing communities of Delta.
Wike has worked for his State and River state will miss him from May 29, 2023, but Okowa’s exit will be greeted with jubilation. Everything about government in Okowa’s administration is evil and bad. The only known thing he knows best is to mock himself with pretentious, insincere thanks givings.
It is as much imperative to draw attention of the Federal Government, Federal Ministry of Works and authorities of Julius Berger, to the observed oversight, unsafe and dangerous state of the ongoing construction of the Udu Road Railway Bridge in Ujevwu.
The said Udu Road “flyover bridge” on top of the railway line is best described as a death trap waiting to happen if allowed to remain as delivered by Julius Berger. Steep and high as a mountain, one wonders why it was not meant to slope well to easily allow motorists climb/drive on top safely.
How could Julius Berger, known for delivery of quality bridges and road infrastructures all over the country, be involved in such construction misfit? The state of finishing on that flyover has been a source of difficult driving that has resulted in avoidable accidents, very unsafe. We urge that this issue be given needed attention before it is too late.
