At his passage to the great beyond, Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, a true Urhobo son, social crusader, and defender of civil rule of our era immortalized himself by his pivotal deployment of unionism to fight Gen Sanni Abacha and his military junta to standstill.
Kokori suffered in the hands of Abacha and his boys, incarcerated for daring to challenge the evil military administration of Abacha and his aide in repressive rule, Al Mustapha.
He was locked up in solitary confinement in Bama Prisons, Maiduguri. A brave civilian soldier, he fought with his heart and mind to liberate the people under Abacha military dictatorship.
You remain a great man even in death. We will continue the fight against bad governance as you have always done.
