Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Tuesday received a high-powered delegation from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) during a strategic visit aimed at ramping up the fight against banditry and terrorism in the state.

The delegation showcased one of the NAF’s potent combat assets the Mil Mi-35 Hind attack helicopter a Russian-made beast specifically configured for rapid response, intelligence gathering, and close air support operations in counter-insurgency missions.

 

Governor Lawal, accompanied by top government officials and senior security commanders, was given a detailed briefing and conducted a hands-on inspection of the Mi-35. He examined its advanced weapon systems, 30mm nose cannon, surveillance equipment, and rocket/missile capabilities, while asking probing questions about deployment, integration with ground troops, and real-time operational effectiveness.

 

Air Force personnel demonstrated key features of the helicopter, emphasizing its proven role in hunting down armed bandits and restoring peace in troubled areas of northern Nigeria.
