In a statement on Monday May 1st 2023, the SDP gubernatorial flag bearer, described the state’s workforce as the engine room of any government.

He said: “A wonderful May Day to fellow Deltans and Nigerians at large. May Day, as its been tagged from our colonial masters is a day that has been set aside for workers to appreciate and to take stock of where they are.

“Nigerians and Deltans in particular, rise up and ask the following questions: where are we? Why have we not held accountable our leaders in Delta State?

“The eight years of Okowa’s administration is coming to an end, at best you are still managing to beg for salaries for a State that is so blessed and so rich.

“Delta State is richer than 42 independent countries in the world. Delta state is the best state and the most blessed State in Nigeria, what have we done? Have we joined hands in criminality to make sure that nothing happens to our children? How long are we going to continue like this?

“If I have been able to do my bid and bit by giving employment to over 6, 000 young persons. Where is all the money in Delta State? Where has the money gone to? Why are we being played? Why are we being told lies and we are taking it hook, sink and liner? Why are our leaders accepting joke as a way of life?

“When would we think of developing the State when our fathers of yesteryears stole and destroyed the common patrimony of us as a people. We would never have seen anything to talk about.

“While I wish you all as workers in sorry and in a pains in all that you are experiencing, you must take responsibility. It is not thinkable that the way Delta State is today, only one man says this must be your governor and you accept.

“And even from the Okpe nation, you did not pick Okpes that are educated. It is unthinkable! One that everybody knows is questionable, using his brother’s certificate and you are all sitting down there, how do you want our children to behave? That criminality, is the way to go?

He lamented that everything about life has reduced and taken a backward trend more particularly in the last eight years where people now work to eat rather than work to live.

While describing it as an unfortunate situation, he said: “we must as a people come together to change the situation, adding, “our children, God forbid will not inherit this hopelessness, helplessness and of course a dictatorial mindedness government.
