Female Artisans who had acquired different skills under the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Short/Long-term training programmes have been enjoined to articulate dynamic dispositions that are measurable with international best technological practices in their chosen trades.
The Permanent Secretary of WAPA, Mrs. Oluyemi Kalesanwo gave the charge during the courtesy visit of a delegation from Womenpreneurng, a Tech-Savvy Non-Governmental Organisation which focuses on educating incapacitated skilled women on electronic landscape acquisition to the Ministry.
She urged beneficiaries of the skill training programmes to embrace various opportunities proposed for their self-development, especially modern technology to improve their businesses.
In her words, “A good number of residents have acquired between four to five skills which they still do not consider as good sources of livelihoods. However, l would encourage them to grow with their businesses for the success of every venture requires great commitment. Their financial status in their chosen trades largely depends on the passion they exhibit. I know well enough that only passionate people explore the opportunities made available by the Lagos State Government for business expansion”.
While reiterating the professional consultation granted to recipients of the empowerment programmes, the Permanent Secretary informed that the Monitoring and Evaluation process has created an avenue to curb mismanagement and expedite feedback channels on productivity.
In her address, the Founder of Womenpreneurng, Mrs. Oghenovo Victory maintained that eradicating poverty goes beyond using financial literacy, but rather, one directed at creating an enabling environment in which a symbiotic liaison with WAPA will foster the vulnerable in Lagos State.
