Benjamins-Laniyi’s appointment follows closely after the President endorsed the creation of a Women Affairs Secretariat to address women’s concerns within the FCT Administration, as communicated by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, during a briefing in Abuja on Friday. Wike highlighted that this move is in line with Tinubu’s commitment to a governance model that is inclusive and accommodating to all.

Ogunleye emphasized that Benjamins-Laniyi will play a pivotal role in the FCTA’s mission to enhance the well-being and empowerment of women and children in the FCT.

Born in 1965 and hailing from Ogun State, Benjamins-Laniyi’s appointment stems from her outstanding qualities and dedicated public service record, according to the announcement.

With over 35 years of experience as a communications consultant, social entrepreneur, international mentor, and environmentalist, Mrs. Benjamins-Laniyi brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role

According to information, “She has also showcased her commitment to women’s political participation by aspiring for a senatorial position in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022. As the Grand Matron of ‘Hope Again for FCT Women in Politics,’ she has played a vital role in encouraging and mentoring women in the political arena,” he stated.

However, Ogunleye further highlighted that her astute understanding of the political landscape, deep dedication to social causes impacting women and children, and capability to navigate intricate policy challenges will all contribute to advancing women’s rights and well-being in the FCT.
