Following the crash landing which resulted in the temporal closure of the Abuja airport on Sunday 7th May, 2023
It was gathered that, the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja has decided to reopen for operations hours after a Max Air aircraft crash-landed causing its tyres to burst into flames.
Having recent reports showing that there was panic in the air on Sunday as the aircraft, conveying 143 passengers and an infant from Yola, Adamawa State, crash-landed in Abuja.
Even as one of the passengers recalled how he witnessed the tyre pulling out right from the airport in Yola which prompted the pilot to send a signal to the Abuja airport.
It took the timely intervention of the airport emergency officials, who were deployed to the runway before the plane touched down, to put off the fire and safely disembarked the passengers.
However, the airport witnessed temporal shutdown to allow officials to remove the faulty aircraft and also clear the runaway, this indicates that the aviation industry have been reformed ready to take control of situations whenever.
Providing an update on the situation, in a statement, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made a strong remark commending the quick response of the aviation emergency workers while announcing on Sunday night that the airport has been reopened for operations as the aircraft has been towed away and the runway swept clean.
He affirms “The Max Air aircraft has been towed away, runway has been swept, inspected & certified. The airport is now reopened for operations.
