The reports that Pope Francis has sacked a Rwandan-born man, Wenceslas Munyeshyaka, from priesthood as emanated recently has been trending, raising questions in the mind of people especially Christians.
Munyeshyaka, 64, who has been serving as a clergyman in northern France for almost three decades prior to his sack, received this via a statement contained in a communiqué signed by the bishop of Évreux which says that, the clergyman “automatically loses clerical rights” and “is excluded” from serving “anywhere else” as a priest.
Of which the Office of the Diocese of Évreux says the decision is based on a papal decree dated in March.
However, it was gatherer that Mr. Munyeshyaka, took to France following the Rwandan genocide in 1994, and is yet to comment on the decision of the Diocese on his suspension in December 2021 after legally acknowledging being the father of a 10 year old boy.
It was also noted that, Wenceslas Munyeshyaka was ordained into priesthood in Rwanda in 1992, and faces allegations aiding the killing of hundreds of Tutsis who fled to his church in the capital, Kigali, during the genocide but the issue remains what will be of the Rwandan Priest after serving for many years, and sacked even though, courts in France have cleared him of the genocide charges.
Will the Rwandan Priest continue or look forward to a new phase of life coming ahead!
