The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Okrika local government area, Hon Princess Ibiene Ogan, says her administration will continue to put the people first.
She stated this on Sunday during the second phase presentation of the empowerment programme to the people of Okrika.
According to her, since being appointed as the CTC Chairman, she has been working alongside her committee members to give the people a sense of direction and purposefulness.
She disclosed that a lot of activities have been carried out to make life easier and also to endure things turn around for the better.
“We have carried out medical outreaches, empowered over a thousand Okrikans, organized holiday lessons for our children, trained our teachers, reactivated long abandoned water projects in Ogoloma and Ogan Ama respectively, met with PHED to improve power supply to Okrika, provided free internet hub here at Awolome-Biri, began land reclamation exercise, opened up blocked canals, amongst several others.
“In all our dealings, we have followed strictly the Rivers First mantra of our leader, benefactor, father and mentor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS. In Okrika, it is Okrika people First and we will continue to do so while we are still here.
“What we are handing over today is just the beginning of many more that is to come. We are working day and night to ensure that we have a good impact on the lives of our people; help to lessen the burden of the harsh economic realities and make them belong to their own government,” she stated.
Hon Ogan disclosed that “we shall be presenting cars, motorcycles, boats, mini buses, tricycles, cooking stoves, cash and other essentials to the people of Okrika, cutting across various wards and all strata of the society. I want to call on all the beneficiaries to make good use of these facilities to improve their standard of living.”
The royal father of the day, HRM, King Ateke Tom, who is the Amanyanabo of the Ancient Okochiri Kingdom, later unveiled the vehicles, motorcycles, mini buses, cooking stoves, among others for empowerment programme.
