The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, says vandals again have pulled down three towers and stolen one third of conductors of the ongoing repair of Ahoada-Yenagoa transmission line, which was previously vandalizedv local security has been engaged at Ula Ikata in Ahoada East Local Government Area to secure the site until repairs are completed.
Also TCN says the line will be energized from the Ahoada end as a preventive measure as
efforts to replace the stolen conductor are currently underway.
Despite challenges posed by difficult terrain and flooding, TCN states that the restringing of the Ahoada-Yenagoa line is approximately eighty five percent completed.
Earlier in the month vandals had attacked transmission towers in the Okada and Ofosu Communities along the Benin-Egbin and Benin- transmission lines with a total of thirty one towers affected.
TCN while emphasizing on the urgent need to combat the growing problem of vandalism and theft of Nigeria’s power infrastructure, calls on the public to support efforts to address these crimes which have significantly hampered the expansion and stability of the national grid.
