In a decisive move aimed at protecting the lives and properties of the people of Epe and its surroundings, the leadership of three Local Governments, Epe LG, Eredo LCDA and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, recently convened a crucial high-level security meeting.

The meeting, held at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, is in response to the escalating issue of vandalism and attacks on vital power infrastructure across the three LG and LCDAs.

It has in attendance Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government; Hon. Akinloye Monsuru, Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Hon. Anomo Wale Raji, Executive Chairman Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA.

The Chairmen emphasised the urgent need for unified action to protect essential power infrastructure and guarantee a reliable electricity supply to the communities.

The meeting was also designed to devise effective strategies to thwart the persistent vandalization of power infrastructure that has caused significant power outages and hindered economic activities in the region. They opined that vandalism is not merely a criminal act but a grave threat to the economic development and security of the area.

In their unanimous decisions, the Chairmen expressed their commitments to work hand-in-hand with security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to raise public awareness about the dangers of vandalization and the critical importance of safeguarding power infrastructure.

They also pledged to actively pursue and apprehend those responsible for these despicable acts, ensuring they face the full force of the law.

They, therefore, called on parents and guardians to take proactive measures by counselling their children and wards against any form of vandalism, particularly public property.

In their words, “We will not tolerate vandalism in any form, and those caught will face severe repercussions. Parents must share this responsibility and be vigilant about their children’s actions”.

This robust and comprehensive strategy to combat the vandalization of power infrastructure underscores the unwavering commitment of the Epe Local Government and LCDAs Chairmen to confront the challenges faced by their communities and guarantee the provision of essential services like electricity.

Animashaun, Akinloye and Anomo urged residents of Epe, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejinrin to band together with them in this critical fight against vandalism. A call to action was also extended to all community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or pertinent information that could help deter vandal attacks.

They urged residents to report or provide information on any incidents of vandalism on any critical government infrastructure to the following phone numbers – Epe LG: 08023605630, 08061380882; Eredo LCDA: 08029292773, 08141508902 and Ikosi -Ejinrin LCDA: 08032170278, 09011949865.
