President Bola Tinubu has recently reappointed Mohammed Alkali as the managing director of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).
Alkali, pioneer managing director of the commission, was said to have been appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari without approval for continuity before leaving office which gave birth to the appointment of Sadiya Umar, former minister of humanitarian affairs, had reportedly wanted Abu Hashidu as Managing Director.
Recalling that in May, Shehu Garba, a former presidential spokesperson, said Buhari ordered the Hashidu board to commence duties without senate confirmation.
This reappointment was contained in a letter read by the president of the senate, Godswill Akpabio, which revealed President Tinubu request for Alkali be screened for another term of four years
This decision took place at <span;>the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.
It was noted that, President Tinubu based his request on section 5(b) of the North-East Development Commission establishment act of 2017.
