Uganda has officially granted Starlink an operating licence, clearing the way for the satellite internet provider to begin services in the country.
The licence was signed after Starlink committed to fully complying with Uganda’s legal and regulatory requirements.
This marks a significant policy shift, as the government had previously blocked the importation and clearance of Starlink equipment due to regulatory concerns.
Starlink is expected to be a game-changer across Africa, particularly in connecting remote and underserved areas with limited traditional infrastructure, though challenges such as high costs and regulatory hurdles remain.
