As part of continued international efforts to support Nigeria’s humanitarian response, the United States Government, through its Agency for International Development, has announced a significant contribution of $32.5 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) operations in Nigeria.

The funding is designed to provide critical food and nutrition assistance, saving lives in conflict-affected regions.

A statement by the US Mission in Abuja points out that this donation will enable the World Food Programme Nigeria (WFP) to reach over seven hundred and sixty-four thousand beneficiaries in the Northeast and Northwest.

The support includes specialised nutrition supplements for more than forty-one thousand pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls, and over forty-three thousand children. These vital supplies will be distributed using electronic food vouchers.

The assistance is targeted at internally displaced persons and vulnerable communities to alleviate the severe hunger crisis in these areas.
