A statement by the US Mission in Abuja says, seventeen emergency operations staff from across West Africa completed the intensive two-week program, enhancing the skills of public health officers in preparedness of outbreak and response.

Participants learned to effectively manage incident systems critical for coordinating actions during epidemics and pandemics.

At the graduation ceremony, U.S. CDC’s Acting Global Health Protection Director, Asmau Aminu-Alhaji, commended the trainees owing to their commitment in safeguarding public health, both at their home countries and across the region. She stressed the need for cross-border collaboration to combat health threats.

The certification program is part of broader U.S. Government efforts to bolster global health security, equipping frontline responders with advanced emergency management and crisis coordination skills.
