Leandro Trossard is officially an Arsenal player and was unveiled by the North London club on Friday.
The 28-year-old becomes Arsenal’s first acquisition of the January transfer window after his signing was completed from Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to a report on Thursday, full agreement was reached between Arsenal and Brighton for the winger with a £27million deal agreed, which is inclusive of add ons.
Only four days ago, Chelsea hijacked the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, from the Premier League table-topping side, Arsenal with a €100 million deal.
Arsenal, determined not to miss out in the January transfer window to solidify their lead at the top, have moved swifly to sign the Belgian to bring more depth to the squad.
Manager Mikel Arteta, on the club’s website described Trossard as a versatile player with high technical ability and intelligence.
He said, “It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro.
“He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.”
Leandro is a player who will give us a high level of quality going forward,” Arsenal sporting director Edu added. “I know Mikel and our coaches are excited to start working with him.”
Arsenal, the league leaders, added that they hope to include Trossard for Sunday’s fixture against Manchester United.
Trossard spent three-and-a-half seasons at Brighton, scoring 25 goals in 116 league appearances.
