The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Sonny Echono, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Army in advancing education, security and technological development.

 

This was during a visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja, Echono stressed the need for sustained partnership to ensure safer educational institutions and national development.

Echono said the military has continued to play a strategic role not only in safeguarding the country but also in supporting educational advancement and innovation.

 

He noted that TETFund is interested in exploring emerging technologies being developed by the Armed Forces, including robotics and Artificial Intelligence, while assuring continued support to the military in areas aligned with national priorities.

The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, appreciated TETFund’s support to the Nigeria Army School of Engineering, Makurdi, and the Nigeria Army University, Biu.

 

He welcomed the opportunity to deepen collaboration between both institutions in strengthening education and technological capacity.

 

Shaibu stated that the Nigerian Army currently had expanded efforts in drone warfare and armament development but faced manpower shortages in critical technological areas.

 

He appealed to TETFund for support in developing skilled personnel, stressing that Nigeria must build indigenous military production capacity to reduce dependence on imported arms and defence equipment.
