Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo has joined Southampton from Scottish premiership club Rangers FC.
Aribo joined the English Premier League side on a four-year contract, Southampton announced in a statement on Saturday.
Aribo, who played a crucial role, helping Rangers win their first title in 13 years, is reported to have cost Southampton about £10 million.
Ralph Hasenhüttl, Southampton manager, described Aribo as “a player with many qualities.”
“We believe Joe can bring energy and creativity to our side. Feeling comfortable in so many different positions is very helpful for a manager and shows he has a high level of football intelligence, with the ability to take on new information quickly,” Hasenhüttl said.
Speaking about his transfer to Southampton, Aribo said “It’s an amazing club with a lot of history here, and it’s a good plan with what’s to come next. I’m really excited for the journey.”
Aribo, 25, put up an impressive performance for Rangers last season, scoring eight goals and making 10 assists in 57 appearances.
