Raheem Sterling gave the visitors the lead in the 23rd minute, continuing his consistent goal scoring record against Southampton.

The Blues were not done celebrating when Roman Lavia,18, levelled for Southampton, cancelling out Sterling’s goal five minutes later.

A few seconds to the first half break, Southampton turned the table, taking the lead into the break.

Adam Armstrong’s brilliant left-foot strike deflected into Edouard Mendy’s net by Kalidou Koulibaly pushed the Blues behind into the second half.

With 68 ball possession and 10 shots on target, the Blues played harder in the second half but could not get an equaliser.

Southampton are now 7th on the EPL log with seven points in 5 games, while Chelsea are 8th on the log with seven points in 5 games.

Speaking after the game, Thomas Tuchel said “we started well in all the games almost but obviously we are struggling with our focus and consistency in matches.”

Meanwhile, Fulham defeated Brighton 2-1, with Aleksandar Mitrovic giving Fulham an opener, while Lewis Dunk’s own goal doubled Fulham’s lead. However, Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty reduced the deficit.

Leeds and Everton played to a 1-1 draw. Anthony Gordon scored for the Toffees, while Luis Sinisterra equalised for Leeds.

Similarly, Crystal Palace and Brentford played to a 1-1 draw. Wilfred Zaha for Palace while Yoane Wissa equalised for the visitors.
