The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has said that cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, will be kept in the male section of the facility throughout his six-month imprisonment.
The Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos on Friday sentenced Bobrisky to jail after he pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of naira mutilation.
However, Bobrisky told the court that he was a man when asked to clarify his gender status before the court.
The Nigerian Correctional Service stated that his (Bobrisky) answer in court informed the prison officials to keep him in the facility designated for men.
The NCS source on Friday, April 12, said: “Since he admitted to being a male in court, then we have to abide by what was submitted in court.
“He shouldn’t be afraid of sexual assault from other male inmates because our men can give him protection.”
