Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, Tuesday called on traditional rulers to build bridges of harmony and peaceful co-existence among the people under their watch.

The Deputy Governor spoke in Iyuku-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, during the installation of the Village Head of Iyuku under Uzairue kingdom.

 

According to Shaibu, the appointment of Zaiki OkhuIyukugbe of Iyuku, Zekeri Bawa, Adororo the 11, was to build bridges of harmony, understanding, tolerance and peaceful co-existence among his people and neighbours.

 

“There can be no meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour, discord, distrust and dissatisfaction”.

 

“I implore the traditional ruler to reflect on his people’s peculiarities and use his position to build on the strengths that come from the diversities and common brotherhood”.

 

“I wish to congratulate the royal father, the good people of Iyuku on this auspicious occasion. I pray that today will mark the dawn of a new era in your domain”, he added.

 

On his part, the new Village Head, Zaiki OkhuIyukugbe of Iyuku, Zekeri Bawa, while expressing joy, appreciated the Deputy Governor for gracing the occasion and promised to prioritize the welfare of his people.

 

He commended the Deputy Governor and Village Heads of the various Uzairue communities for the confidence reposed in him, assuring to justify his elevation by ensuring peace and development of his community.
