SGBV: LAGOS DSVA SENSITISES RESIDENTS OF AGBOYI COMMUNITY

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has continued with its efforts in kicking SGBV out of Lagos with the sensitisation of residents and community members of Agboyi in commemoration of the 60th birthday of the His Royal Majesty, Olu of Agboyi l, Alayeluwa Monsuru Abimbola Oladega on the 18th of February, 2023.

In her address at the event, the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi advised residents to support the fight against SGBV and all forms of violence in their various communities, stressing that the core mandate of the Agency is to rid the State of domestic and sexual violence.

Vivour-Adeniyi, represented by the Head of Community Engagement, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, stressed the role of the community in ensuring survivors can break the culture of silence and ensure perpetrators are held accountable.

 

While maintaining that Agboyi Kingdom should not be a hiding place for perpetrators of domestic and sexual violence, she emphasised the need to report any case directly or as a mandated reporter through the Agency’s toll-free line – 08000 333 333.

 

Ms. Adetoun Odumbo, a Community Engagement Officer spoke on the various services that are available to survivors including medical, legal, psychosocial, empowerment and access to justice.

 

She urged everyone to see themselves as mandated reporters, if they see something, they should say something and ensure cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence are reported promptly.

 

The DSVA team later distributed educational materials, flyers and souvenirs which caption valuable information on SGBV, to residents.
