The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON arrived Freetown, Sierra Leone in style for commemoration of the UN World Day for the prevention of, and healing from child sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON has arrived Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone. ahead of her participation at this year’s UN World Day for the prevention of, and healing from child exploitation Against Rape and Girl Child sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence.

 

She was received at Lungi international Airport, Freetown by the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Jannie Bio, after which she took a boat ride into the capital into the waiting arms of the Nigerian and Sierra Leonian cultural troops in a rousing welcome.

 

Slated for November 18, this year’s UN World Day for the prevention of, and healing from child exploitation Against Rape and Girl Child sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence highlights the challenges of gender-based violence, girl child exploitation and rape in Africa, with a view to building a coalition against it on the continent.

 

During the commemoration, Nigeria’s First Lady, her counterparts from Angola, Ana Dias Lourenco and the host country Sierra Leone are expected to sign commitment and lend their voices to the struggle against the scourge, while also working towards healing for victims.

Some of the activities lined up for the visit include a town hall meeting, special prayers for victims, visits to the state children’s hospital among others.

 

This is the first official trip of the First lady outside the country after the United Nations General Assembly held in New York in October, 2023.
