The United States spent $578.78 million on crude oil imports from Nigeria in Q1 2026, representing a 15.06% decline compared to the same period in 2025.
U.S. imports of Nigerian crude also fell from 8.44 million barrels in Q1 2025 to 7.84 million barrels in Q1 2026, a decrease of 7.03%.


On a month-to-month basis, imports dropped sharply from February to March 2026 in both volume and value.
Nigeria’s share of total African oil exports to the U.S. declined from about 61.7% in Q1 2025 to 34.8% in Q1 2026, indicating increased competition, particularly from Libya and Ghana.
