Sarauniya Foundation offers free medical services to 1200 Nasarawa residents

Sarauniya Multipurpose Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in collaboration with the Nasarawa Emirate Council has offered free medical services to 1200 residents of Nasarawa local government area in Nasarawa state.

 

Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of the NGO confirmed the development on the second day of the two days free medical outreach held in Nasarawa local government area on Friday.

She commended the beneficiaries for embracing the initiative with their attendance and explained that the free medical outreach is a commendable initiative that aims to provide healthcare services to the residents of the area, most especially the less privileged who have health challenges.

 

She then assured the beneficiaries that her NGO emphasizes the importance of health care and would continuously organize more free medical outreaches for people in the area and across the state to benefit from for a healthier Nasarawa state.

 

The Sarauniya Multipurpose Foundation CEO then thanked the Nasarawa Emirate Council for the collaboration in making the outreach a success and also thanked the area council and state government for their support.

 

Speaking to newsmen, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed, Chairman of Nasarawa local government area praised the gesture which he said would go a long to alleviate the medical challenges faced by many in the area, especially the less privileged who cannot afford medical costs.

 

“It was a laudable gesture because ever since I was sworn in as chairman of this local government area I have not seen such a gesture as the one by the foundation. I was at the theatre and saw what the surgeons were doing. We are really impressed.

 

“The foundation has put smiles on the faces of the less privileged who are medically challenged because for you to see a dentist in Nasarawa LGA, the card alone is about N6000 aside other costs but this foundation has brought it to their doorsteps free of charge. We are really grateful,” he said.

 

He then urged other well meaning Nigerians especially from Nasarawa LGA to emulate the gesture and come up with laudable initiatives that will benefit the people, especially the poor.

 

In an interview, Dr Jabir Jibril, Coordinator of the outreach told newsmen that so far about 1200 beneficiaries have been attended to, out of which 57 received eye surgeries while 300 got eye glasses.

 

“We have dispensed 300 glasses and the target was to dispensed 300 glasses. So right now the glasses are exhausted. We have also dewormed 750 patients,” he said.

 

He further revealed that about 50 persons had been attended to by the dental clinic and 700 had received dental hygiene, while 210 patients were offered physiotherapy care.

 

He then revealed the free medical outreach by the NGO in collaboration with the Nasarawa Emirate Council is the fourth of it’s kind, with a total of over 4000 patients attended to since the commencement of the outreaches.

 

In another interview, Miss Keziah Joseph, a beneficiary appreciated the organizers of the medical outreach for coming to the aid of the poor and less privileged, adding that the initiative has helped tackle several medical challenges of many residents.

 

“All the services rendered are free and very okay. They ran several tests for different ailments and gave drugs. I really appreciate the organizer because since my childhood this is the first time I am witnessing this kind of effort,” she said.

 

Our reporter gathered that during the event the CEO of the NGO also gave out the amount of 10,000 each to 250 women.

 

In attendance at the event were Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril, Emir of Nasarawa, Nasarawa State first lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule, represented by the former Secretary to the State Government of Nasarawa State, Hajiya Dr. Zainab Ahmed among others. END
