SANWO-OLU LAUNCHES LAFARGE  REVOLUTIONARY WATERSHIELD CEMENT

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday launched the first-ever Watershield Cement produced by Lafarge Africa Plc. at a colourful ceremony held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island. He stated that the cement is a testament to Lafarge’s commitment to developing products that enhance the quality of life for Nigerians.

 

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, remarked that the Watershield Cement signifies a new era of creativity, efficiency, reliability, and resilience to developers and builders.

He expressed delight that the Watershield birth and christening was in Lagos State, the Centre of Excellence, saying “As we lead, we reiterate our desire for the comfort and better livability of all residents of Lagos State. This is the thrust of our Administration’s T. H.  E. M. E. S. Plus Developmental Agenda of inclusivity and good governance for the betterment of the citizenry”.

 

While congratulating the Group Managing Director (GMD), Lolu Alade-Akinyemi and the Lafarge team for positioning themselves as leaders in sustainable and innovative construction solutions, he appealed that the joy of the new product by Lafarge be felt by the majority of Lagos residents by ensuring that the Watershield Cement price is affordable and within the reach of the populace.

 

He averred that with the Watershield Cement, people can build structures that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also strong, resilient, and sustainable.

 

The GMD, Alade-Akinyemi, in his address, said the Watershield Cement is the first waterproof cement in Nigeria specially designed to deliver the long-time desire for long-lasting and durable structures to homeowners. According to him, the company’s claim of waterproofing has been tested and proven by the cross-section of builders before the launch.

 

The launch was witnessed by government officials including the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, distributors and professionals in the built sector.
