The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised Prof. Ibrahim Agbola Gambari and three other distinguished Nigerians for their exceptional leadership, honesty and loyal contributions, not just in their professional callings but also in State and National development.
The praise was contained in his goodwill message at the unveiling of the Hallmarks of Labour Book, Volume II held recently at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to honour the distinguished role models.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the lives and journeys of Professor Gambari, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and Professor Joseph Ogbonnaya Irukwu as a wellspring of motivation for all who aspire to be great through honest labour, especially the young generation.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, said the good people and Government of Lagos State are proud of the achievements of all the awardees in their patriotic quests for a greater Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu also commended the Author of the Book, Mrs. Patricia Otuedon-Arawore and the Board of Trustees for sustaining the commitment to the ideals of the Hallmarks of Labour Foundation for the past three decades, noting that her vision aligns with Lagos State Government’s THEMES+ Development Agenda, particularly on community advancement, youth development, gender equality and all-inclusive government.
He gave assurance of his administration’s support to the vision of nurturing a society where the citizenry, especially the youths can draw inspiration from the contemporary role models.
The Chairman of the event, Izoma Philip Aziodu, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule and the Deputy Governor, Oyo State, Barr. Abdulraeem Lawal acknowledged the value-added contributions of the four awardees to the development of Nigeria and Africa in general.
The book was reviewed by the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello who noted that the book was written in simple style with captivating words to make it interesting.
Dignitaries who attended the event include former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adebisi Sarah Sosan; former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; Chief Onikepo Akande and Prof. Oladapo Ashiru among other important personalities.
